Dr. Robert Bloom
Dr. Robert Bloom is the current Internal Medicine Program Director at Ascension Providence Hospital. He attended Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. He was Program Director for 12 years before moving to Ascension Providence Hospital where he was the Hematology/Oncology Associate Program Director until August of 2011 when he again became the Medicine Program Director. He has a zest for knowledge and a fund of collegiality and through his fervor has maintained excellence in his caliber of graduates from the internal medicine program. Dr. Bloom has been active in the College and the Association of Program Directors of Internal Medicine. He was an early advocate of the National In-service examination and wrote questions for the test.
He has been voted “Top Doc” by his peers in eight of the last 10 years. Dr. Bloom says that he is most proud of the almost 200 Internists that he has trained, as well as over a 1000 Fellows, residents, and students whom he has had the honor to instruct over the past 30 years. Dr. Robert Bloom has been an outstanding educator, as well as a supporter and participant of our Michigan ACP Chapter. He was honored with the Laureate Award at the ACP Chapter in 2014.
Dr. Samira Ahsan
Samira Ahsan, MD, the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency training program at Ascension Providence Hospital, is a graduate of Nishtar Medical College, Multan, Pakistan. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical center and is board certified in Internal Medicine. She went on to do a fellowship in Medical Genetics at Henry Ford Health System. She practices both Internal Medicine and Medical Genetics, with a special interest in cancer genetics. She started the Cancer Genetics Clinic at Ascension Providence Hospital, an integral part of the Oncology Multidisciplinary Clinic. Dr. Ahsan has been participating in a CDC-funded project on Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome, in collaboration with Michigan Department of Community Health, for the last 5 years. She has special interest in innovative curriculum strategies. She is married to a nephrologist and they have lived in Michigan for over 15 years.
Dr. Michael Marshall
Dr. Marshall is Board Certified with more than 30 years practice experience and provides general internal medicine and preventive care for adults.
As the practice Medical Director special interest includes patients with hypertension, hepatitis C, lung disease, kidney disease, heart failure, asthma and diabetes.
He is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and the University of Michigan school of Public Health.
Dr. Suelyn Boucree
Dr. Suelyn Boucree is an exemplary physician who pays attention to detail. She believes that all patients should receive superb care and prides herself in individualized care, spending time understanding each clients’ unique needs and ensuring that the goals of care are understood.
She is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician who received her undergraduate training from the University of the West Indies, her residency training from Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. and who has been in practice for several years.
She specializes in complex medical conditions, but is also passionate about preventative medicine and believes in the intermarriage of lifestyle and traditional medicine and uses this approach with each client encounter.
She is vibrant and always ready to help. Currently, she is the Chair of the Program Evaluation Committee and is actively involved in Clinical Quality Improvement Initiatives.
Dr. Ana Capatina
Dr. Ana M. Capatina-Rata graduated from the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, Romania in 1998. Dr. Capatina-Rata completed her residency training in internal medicine at Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield, MI in 2009. Her formal training in geriatrics followed at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI where she completed a fellowship in geriatrics in 2010. In August of 2010 she joined the faculty staff of the Academic Internal Medicine Program at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI as an Attending Physician. Her interests include diabetes, women's health, dementia and use of simulation in medical education.
In 2010,Dr. Capatina-Rata was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Capatina-Rata is ABIM Board Certified in Internal Medicine and a member of American College of Physicians. Hobbies include reading, classical music and traveling.
PA. Yolanda Freeman-Hildreth
Yolonda Freeman-Hildreth is a certified Physican Assistant with over 10 years of experience in Internal Medicine providing the highest level of quality care to patients working within the hospital and outpatient settings.
She is a graduate of the University of Detroit-Mercy physcian assistant program and Northwood University Graduate School of Management.
Special interest includes anticoagulation therapy, preventative care, hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.
Dr. Maryann Paul
Maryann Paul is a board certified internist. She has been on Ascension Providence Hospital medical staff since 2014. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center affiliated with Case Western University in Cleveland, OH. She has a special interest in preventive medicine and lifestyle modification. She also serves as the site director for the third and fourth internal medicine medical student clerkships.
Dr. Manish Sharma
Manish Sharma, MD, is board-certified in Internal Medicine and fellowship trained in Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Sharma earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan and received his nuclear medicine training at the University of Michigan.
He has over ten years of experience in adult medicine treating a wide range of conditions. His interests include medical education and quality and patient safety initiatives.
Dr. Michael Williams
Dr. Michael Williams has been faculty at Ascension Providence Hospital for over a decade and has maintained his reputation of being passionate about medicine, compassionate about his patients and dedicated to excellence.
He completed his medical school at Case Western Reserve in 1977. He later completed his Internship and Residency at Wayne State University Affiliated Hospitals in 1980 and subsequently received his Internal Medicine Board Certification in 1980.
Dr. Williams sits on several hospital Committees over the course of his tenure and has published several research papers. He is committed to excellence and patient care.
