How to Apply

Application Information

We are a fully ACGME accredited program and are no longer affiliated with the AOA. We are participating in the allopathic residency match for 2019 through ERAS, but will still consider DO applicants if they are also participating in the allopathic match. Applications must be submitted through ERAS.

Please submit your application through ERAS by November 1, 2018. The selection committee reviews applications on a holistic basis. Careful attention will go to your letters of recommendation. Both COMLEX and USMLE scores will be accepted, and while there is no minimum set, your scores will be compared to the other applicants.

Eligible Citizenship Status

Ascension Providence Hospital will ONLY accept J-1 visas or U.S. Citizens. This is an institutional policy and cannot be negotiated. Candidates meeting these requirements are encouraged to apply.

Interview Dates

Friday, December 7, 2018

Saturday, December 8, 2018

Sunday, December 9, 2018

Interview Day

If invited for an interview, you will need to attend one of the aforementioned days. Half of the day will be dedicated to meeting individually with faculty and current residents. The other half of the day will include a group interview and activity, as well as a tour of the hospital.

Meet-n-Greet Dinner

A Meet-n-Greet dinner will take place for interviewees on Saturday, December 8th, 2018. This will be an opportunity to mingle with the current residents and faculty in a more relaxed atmosphere and is NOT a required part of your interview.

Audition Rotation

Applicants are highly encouraged to participate in an audition rotation during the 2018-19 academic year. This is one of the best ways to explore our program and allows our faculty and residents to become familiar working with you. Neurological Surgery has the longest residency training period, and building a strong, familial bond with your co-residents and faculty will be important. Applications for rotations must go through VSAS. Rotations between July-October are preferred. Apply early because space is limited! Two- and four-week rotations are offered; start dates in VSAS cannot be altered. Feel free to check with the program coordinator for current availability. Otherwise, you will be notified after your application is received. For technical VSAS assistance, please contact the Medical Student Coordinator, Erin Holt at erin.holt@ascension.org.
