Ascension Southeast Michigan Nursing Orientation
Your nursing journey at Ascension Southeast Michigan begins with orientation at our Regional Onboarding Center (ROC), where experiential learning and deliberate practice are the cornerstones of our program.
Your first day will involve virtual completion of Human Resources orientation. During the next nine days at the ROC, our experienced educators will guide you and your peers in simulations, technical skill stations, electronic medical record training, and other interactive sessions. Our goal is for you to be confident in your new role as you begin the unit-based portion of your orientation.
During unit-based orientation, you will be guided by a preceptor, who, together with your educator and manager, will individually tailor your orientation to the specific patient populations that are cared for on your unit. In some specialty areas, you will attend additional classes that will increase your confidence and competence in your new role.
Also a member of Ascension, our parent organization, the St. John Health System in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has provided a video that explains the benefits of our Regional Onboarding Centers.
