The above agenda for PGY2 and PGY3 is just an example. A timeline will be provided for all PGY2 and PGY3 residents with their scheduled Emergency Medicine, General Internal Medicine, OMM and Gastroenterology rotations. Each resident is then expected to create and complete the rest of the above requirements in the time alloted.
Other Requirements
In addition to the required and elective rotations, residents attend monthly journal clubs, family practice department meetings, hospital lectures, and clinic lectures.
Managed care topics and billing are taught during ongoing lectures at the ambulatory clinic by the faculty and administration.
Board review provided by faculty and resident driven activities are integrated into the curricula. In-service exams are given annually to gauge the progression of each resident and intern. Feedback through the exams and frequent faculty review provides areas of achievement and weakness to direct a focus of study.
Behavioral sciences are highlighted by having a psychologist available at the ambulatory care center to provide lectures and assist with cases.
Chart review is performed by residents to maintain a high level of care to our patients and develop necessary skills for future practice.
