Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Salary and Benefits

Annual stipend

  • PGY-1 — $45,450.00
  • PGY-2 — $46,899.00
  • PGY-3 — $48,772.00
  • Education stipend also provided:  $1500/ year for PGY-3; $1200/ year for PGY-2; $500/ year for PGY-1

A limited educational license is purchased by the hospital for the PGY-1 year, but house staff are required to purchase their own license in subsequent years of training.


AOA Dues
AOA dues are paid for by the hospital for the interns and residents.


Lab Coats
House staff are provided with two lab coats during each year of training.


Meals provided at the hospital cafeteria.


ACLS Certification
ACLS recertification will be provided to all interns during intern orientation.


ATLS Certification
ATLS certification will be provided to individuals in certain residency programs at no cost to the house staff.


Health Benefits
Corporate Package – Intern and residents will be eligible for participation in a version of the St. John SmartHealth benefit program.  This benefit program allows interns and residents to choose which health, dental and vision plans best suit their personal and family benefit needs.  This plan also provides short and long term disability coverage as well as life insurance.  All house staff members are eligible for participation in the multiple Tax Shelter Retirement annuity plan.


Interns and residents: housing is available on a limited basis.
