Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital Family Medicine Residency

Thank you for your interest in the Family Medicine Residency program at Ascension Macomb-Oakland hospital. The program is an Osteopathic recognized ACGME approve residency program dedicated to the education of students and residents pursuing training in family medicine.  Our program goals are:

  • To graduate competent and skilled family physicians
  • To create an atmosphere that instills life long learning
  • To be disciplined, structured, and dedicated in our academic approach to excellence
  • To create a work and educational environment that is caring, relaxed, and fun!
  • Moonlighting

Moonlighting is encouraged for residents who have completed internship and have obtained their permanent license.   Residents maintain federal regulations for monthly work hours and comply with the current requirements.  Moonlight hours are monitored by graduate medical education.

Each resident is assigned a faculty advisor.  Residents can use this opportunity to discuss concerns and garner feedback.  Residents receive feedback on clinical performance, rotation evaluations, and an annual in-service examination.  Residents are also provided feedback from patient observations to improve professionalism and patient encounters.

Senior residents are required to submit one scientific paper during their residency.  Papers range from case reports to clinical research conducted in the outpatient clinical site at Oakland Primary Care Clinic.
