Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital ENT Program Overview

During their 5 years of training, residents will spend time with a variety of faculties throughout the institution of Ascension Southeast Michigan. Residents will also partake in weekly didactic discussions, as well as monthly grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, and quality improvement discussions. In addition, attending and senior resident lectures will contribute to the education of the resident. Lastly, there will be monthly journal clubs where residents and attendings will discuss current and landmark literature. Research time is protected during residency and presentations and publications are expected.

In their PGY-1 year of training, residents will complete 6(six) months of ENT rotations, accompanies by 2 months of general surgery, 1 month of oral-maxillofacial surgery, 1 month of neurosurgery, 1 month of surgical ICU, and 1 month of anesthesia. PGY-1s are also expected to partake in daytime buddy call, to prepare them for solo call later in their training.

During their PGY-2,3,4,5 years, residents will gain deeper knowledge of the subspecialties of otolaryngology, including but not limited to general ENT, laryngology, pediatrics ENT, allergy, head and neck, and facial plastics. Upon the completion of their residency, our graduates have gone on to succeed in a variety of fellowship programs and practice settings.
