Orthopaedic Academic Conference
Every Wednesday, 7:00 a.m.
Protected time covering selected topics relevant to Orthopaedic Surgery residents. Prepared and presented by faculty and chief residents. This is the main educational event of the week. A formal morbidity and mortality conference is held on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Additionally, a Sports Medicine Visiting Lecture is held monthly as part of the schedule.
Providence Orthopaedic Conference
Every Thursday, 7:30 a.m.
Mandatory Thursday morning meeting which rotates through orthopaedic/radiology combined lecture, morbidity and mortality conference, interesting case presentations and the Orthopaedic Service Line Meeting that provides residents with a glimpse into the hospital’s business practices for orthopaedics.
Orthopaedic Journal Club
Monthly, 6:00 p.m.
Assigned residents work with research faculty to select articles based on a rotating topic list which includes: adult reconstruction, orthopaedic trauma, orthopaedic spine, orthopaedic oncology, pediatric orthopaedics, hand and upper extremities, foot and ankle, and basic science.
Pediatric Orthopaedic Conference
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 6:30 a.m.
This conference series consists of a schedule of rotating topics for which the residents prepare, by text and literature review, for discussion in Socratic format. Residents will also attend preoperative and postoperative case conferences where clinical and x-ray findings are reviewed.
